Polynomials




1. Find the polynomial for the perimeter of a hexigon: 6,3x,3,5x+1,2,2x
2. The polynomial 0.041h – 0.018a-2.69 can be used to estimate the lung capacity, in liters, of a female with height h, in centimeters, and age a, in years. Find the lung capacity of a 20-year old woman, who is 180cm tall.
3. Divide: (x^4-13x^2+42)/ (x^2-6)
4. The mass of Saturn is about 5.688x10^23 metric tons. The mass of the sun is about 1.988x10^27 metric tons. About how many times the mass of Saturn is the mass of the sun? Give your answer in scientific notation.
5. The number N, in millions, of hearing impaired individuals of age x, can be approximated by N=-0.00006x^3 + 0.006x^2 - 0.1x + 1.5. Approximate, to the nearest million, the number of hearing impaired individuals of age 35 and 45.
6. The Base of a triangle is 6cm greater than height. The area is 20cm^2. Find the height and length of the base.
7. Convert to decimal notation: 5.568x10^-8
