Order Description
Assessment Task:

Farming is one of the most dangerous occupations – particularly in the west where there is significant mechanisation and use of chemicals.

Task 1
Research the field of farming and agriculture in the UK, to identify the common forms of hazard that can be encountered. This should include wider consideration / contextualisation of the current trends with regard to both accidents and ill health

Task 2
Select one significant hazard associated with ergonomics / chemical factors / noise, and one associated with technology.

Undertake a thorough review for each of the selected hazards, identifying and discussing the nature of the hazard, the controls that are possible and the requirements of pertinent legislation.

Task 3
Discuss how farm workers may be more / less at risk in relation to the selected hazards, and the precautions they should take to ensure their safety.

Task 4
Write a summary report (3,000 words) on your findings above using separate sections for the two hazards discussed.
