The role suffering plays in Night, a memoir by Elie Wiesel
Order Description
In a five to six page typed MLA-formatted essay, consider the concepts of logotherapy, specifically excerpts from Viktor Frankl's "An Inner Freedom" and the role that suffering plays in Night. Through a careful selection of key scenes, analyze at least four events in which Elie, his father, and/or his fellow Jews suffer and how this suffering eventually changes Elie's perspective and identity. Focus in paticular on Frankl's idea that suffering adds meaning to life and how Elie eventually reconciles his experiences at the concentration camp and the loss of his family. Use Dostoyevsky's quotation: "There is only one thing that I dread; not to be worthy of my sufferings." and Frankl's excerpt from "An Inner Freedom" and Elie's interview with Oprah to inform, develop, and deepen your judgement of Elie's perspective and meaning of his life after the Holocaust. The majority of the essay should focus on Night. Support your judgement based on key evidences in the novel to argue your strong judgement. Use the funnel-paragraph essay format where you clearly state your judgement in a thesis statement at the end of the first paragraph. Use direct quotations- narrative, dialogue, and scenes.
There can be more than just four scenes of suffering with a maximum of six scenes.
