We are moving along, creating more elements of our Standards-Based Lesson Plan.

We are moving along, creating more elements of our Standards-Based Lesson Plan. In this Topic, we focus on the END – the Summative Assessments. For this Topic the Learning Objective is: Create formal assessment tools that are aligned to stated learning targets and appropriate for students. [ACEI 4 elements; InTASC 6(b), 6(k)] By planning for where you want to end up, you can create instructional strategies to help your students reach their learning goals. With this assignment, you will be reading and researching summative assessments. Start in the Course Materials for the links to these required resources. This Assignment has two parts; you are required to complete and submit several different elements. I have created a Template for you. In Part One: compare three actual examples of Summative Assessments and plan your own Summative Assessments for the Lesson Plan you began last week. In Part Two, you will write out two different summative assessments. Write out your two assessments in the Template provided following the guidelines in our Assignment. With the extended essay assessment, you will create an analytic rubric. With the restricted essay assessment, you will create a Holistic Scoring Guide. The Textbook is a great resource to help with these. Check the Assignment details for requirements and electronic tools to assist in this process. The Rubrics must be submitted for grading. Part 1 Research 3 examples of summative assessments.  In 250-300 words, analyze what you discovered, and compare and contrast the attributes of summative assessments you found to the practices recommended by the readings.  Provide url links to the summative assessments. Part 2 Revisit the lesson plan you have been developing using the COE Lesson Plan Template.  Based on the learning targets you have identified, analyze in a 250-500-word reflection the targets being measured and the behaviors that indicate that the targets are being met. To assist you with this assignment, consider the following questions: What knowledge and skills are being measured? What behaviors will the performance task reveal? What would a competent response look like? By what criteria will performance be judged? Next, complete the Assessment box of the COE Lesson Plan Template, and create the assessment for your lesson. When creating the assessment, include the following: An extended-type performance assessment and scoring rubric aligned to your learning targets. For the scoring rubric, include three levels of performance and four rows of criteria.  Your rubric should span different levels of competency and/or quality for each of the criteria. A restricted-type performance assessment with a holistic rubric aligned to the learning targets. In your holistic rubric, indicate how the students may demonstrate a narrowly defined skill using explanations in a brief response.    Submit your reflection, your updated lesson plan, your two assessments and scoring tools to your instructor as one submission.
