In order to start to understand what Mandel is doing in post-apocalyptic, science fiction genre, we need to understand the conventions of this genre.

Read about these genres and write a photojournal about the conventions of the genres. For example, insert a photo you find on one you take yourself and then explain how it shows one of the conventions or post-apocalyptic or science fiction genres and how this is used, avoided, or transformed in the first few chapters you've read. To what effect?  Make sure to cite sources.
